I was amused and surprised to find this.

Wyoming is number 1 in sex toy purchases per capita...

Facts You Didn't Know About Sex Toys | Adam & Eve

The top ten list is about half way down the page:

1 Wyoming
2 Alaska
3 North Dakota
4 Montana
5 Vermont
6 New Hampshire
7 Maine
8 West Virginia
9 Idaho
10 South Dakota

I'm glad to see that my home state of Massachusetts isn't on that list...I guess that means we know how to please our women

With most of the "toy" shops accessed very close by the interstate highways, I'd bet that business traffic is mostly transient ... not local residents. Particulary when you see the ready access off the highway to a shop that's in a business district right off the highway surrounded by a tiny residential population.

The study results were probably based upon gross volume of sales/units of sales, divided by population. A totally misleading result presents from that if many of the products aren't purchased by the resident population.

Good points.

But I doubt that these sales figures are even remotely reliable.

Cody has no businesses of this sort. When I lived in Evanston there was one. It was across the street from a truckstop and right next to the interstate exit.

Quite possibly from the transient population, as sunspirit said, when they discover WY is near 50th for bar/one-night hookups.

This is pretty funny. Except West Virginia these are all places with long, cold winters. Coincidence?

My guess (only a guess) is that Adam and Eve came up with these figures based on their own sales -- mail order. Wyoming and the other top states all have low density populations, so there aren't many sex toy shops around. I remember Casper having something years ago, don't know if they still do or not, but I don't recall seeing one anywhere else in Wyoming. That means most who want toys will order them, and that's where Adam and Eve comes in.

Or maybe it's something in the water....
