Yep, my brother in Denver had that snow too or similar. If we got that where I live now, we would be stranded indoors until April at least. I like snow that comes and goes, not snow that last from December to April. It doesn't do that there does it?
Haven't seen that happening in years. Now it's just snow and gone in a few days. Some bad cases, it's here for a month or so. but the streets are bladed and dry withing the first day or two.

but this is Wyoming, don't turn your back on the weather.

Sheridan has a 2 year college but you can take other classes there if they have enough students wanting that class.

Population is 15800 or there abouts.

Default Wishing I hadn't left!

I lived in Casper for over 4 years, and moved to Fort Collins, CO. a year ago. Lemme tell ya, it was a very stupid decision! I'm a single mom of a 10 yr. old autistic boy. I thought he would have better medical choices here. NOT!! It's hard to find a Dr. here that will accept medicaid. They all want private insurance or cash. I'm barely surviving on what I make. Pay is low, jobs are hard to get, and the standard of living is higher.
Anyway, back to what I was saying...Casper was the perfect size for us not too big, not too small. I had it better financially and my son was covered easily by the medicaid(CHIP).
I miss it, but am stuck here due to the fact that affordable housing is Casper is hard to find nowdays. Miss the people too (once ya get use to them). Everything I needed was there, or not far off.
It would've been smart of me to not leave.

Default Cody a good fit!

I think Cody, Wyoming might be a good fit for you. There is a junior college in Powell, which is about 25 miles away. Cody has great specialty type shopping, but the malls etc are in Billings, MT which is a 1 hour and 20 minute drive away.

Housing is fairly affordable and a great place to raise kids.

Is all of Wyoming like this? I'm looking for a quieter place to raise my family. I like the Sheridan area, Laramie but don't know any others really. How is the weather, mostly winter? I've looked at weather.com for averages throughout the year but none of that will matter except from the people that live there. They are the truly reliable source to go on. My other option is checking out the Bozeman/Livingston Montana area but it sounds like the rich are moving in and housing prices are sky high and they can't build fast enough there. Any info you can supply is greatly appreciated. Oh, the wife has to have shopping nearby, mall, and retail chain stores also. If she can't have that nearby, then I'm done for.

I wanted to disagree with you on this, Guss, but I realize that the last two winters I spent in Wyoming didn't have 5 foot of snow outside the door. I remember thinking it was like being back-east, 15-18 inches of snow every single morning - but melted by evening or the next day ... except on the fields. I remember even having a couple of humid days twice a year the past couple of years - which was really strange. Imagine, if you will, morning-dew in Wyoming! That just doesn't happen very often at all!
One rule for winter in Wyody ... don't sweat!
