As it happens, Halladay runs promotions from time to time that are the most competitive routine service pricing in the area. Yes, they will try their best to find stuff to upsell you, but you're not obligated to get the repairs done in their shop. At least you'll get OE quality parts and factory trained labor for the work. Even brake work and tires can be very competitive with the chains in Cheyenne, and of better quality.

Otherwise, a lot depends upon specifically what your vehicle needs. There's a few 4x4 specialists in town that do quality work ... but don't expect to save a lot of money (if any) over the dealer pricing. And some of them aren't necessarily as capable or competent as the dealership or their competitors. There's a couple on Lincolnway that aren't capable of fixin' a roast beef sandwhich, let alone a vehicle as complex as a kid's tricycle ... and they aren't inexpensive or cheap. I've got neighbors who have repeatedly been screwed by all of these places ... some franchises, some locally owned independents. Of them, the locals are the most inconsistent in their estimates and pricing ... sometimes, they actually do quote a reasonable price and quality of work. Some of the tire shops do more extensive mechanical work, and they, too ... have a large variation in the quality and workmanship of their services.

If you wanted a generalist shop who is trustworthy and knowledgeable with reasonable prices (not cheap ... reasonable!) ... the shop I'd go to isn't in Cheyenne, it's in Pine Bluffs and they're nice folk to deal with, too. Owned by the former lead tech at a dealership in Cheyenne, the man and his assistant know their stuff.

I would stay away from the quick lube shops in town. The quality of workmanship and products leave something to be desired .... We've personally had bad experiences with several on routine servicing. You know they are pretty pathetic when their "presidential" service includes vacuuming and window cleaning and the vehicle is dirtier when it leaves than when it came in for service. I've personally watched them not inflate tires, not even check them ... and sign off that they've done so on a vehicle I knew had low tire pressures, getting it ready for a major trip with an engine oil change ... or inflate them to the maximum rated pressure for a tire instead of the car manufacturer's spec. They get pretty adamant that they "know" what they're doing, but they don't. And when they screw up ... as they did on my wife's Ford Ranger transmission lube level, causing it to blow out the synchro's and the bearings within 5 miles of their servicing, their attitude is "sue us" rather than accept responsibility for their mistake and try to make things right for their customer.

Overall, repair/maintenance for your vehicle in Cheyenne will be a hit/miss affair. You must be aggressive in shopping for the services you require, and get several estimates before doing anything beyond routine service.
