"He might like cooking himself down the road if not now."
It seems this guy is going to end-up cooked - he might even like it.
Wasn't that the punch line to an old Twilight Zone episode? The book To Serve Man wasn't mere philosophizing, it was a cookbook. Some fava beans and A nice Chianti, yes ...
This would suggest my usage is acceptable. I guess it probably goes against certain spelling rules, but, the english language has many broken rules and exceptions. To me, on paper, "bussed" looks right and "bused" doesn't. Probably why I typed it that way.

If you are not a native speaker of English, I can well understand your confusion, but--traditionally--the word "bussed" is used to mean that somebody or some thing has been kissed. Being transported by a bus is expressed by using the word "bused".
This may not seem logical, but much of the English language defies logic.
When I worked in a restaurant as a teenager, wait no, as a busboy, my first job was bussing tables. We would just load the tables in a bus, and they would be returned to us clean an hour later. I wish. That would be better than kissing dirty tables. What a weird language we have, and I love it most of the time.
Actually, I'm pretty sure that's not where I got it because I don't find that thread interesting enough to read - my child went to a private school, so I couldn't care less about that public school debacle.
BTW - do a site search on that phrase and see how many hits you get.

My post, to which you replied, reinforces the fact that it's acceptable. I'm just amazed at how quickly repeated 'wrongs' become acceptable.

B...b...but, it's of uppermost importance to not hurt anyone's feelings. If a few choose to say a word incorrectly, it behooves the majority to change and be accepting of the word that was wrong, but now is right. Political correctness is the guide. We are in its throes and there is no way out.
Although fitting, this was not in reference to the above conversation.
