AP - Los Angeles - on MTV Movie Awards - 04/15/14 - para 4

"Sure, an abundance of golden popcorn-shaped prizes were again presented for fun fair ..."

Plausible, I suppose, except that I expected "fun fare".

During yesterday's coverage of the 1 year anniversary of the Boston Marathon Bombing, WCBS-TV reporter Jessica Schneider shared these words with her audience:

Last year, me and my family came to Boston for the marathon...The people of Boston showed their shtrength...I learned the true meaning of Boston Shtrong.

How does somebody with such a poor command of the English language, and with such poor enunciation, manage to become an on-air personality for a major TV station?

I'm still not sure quite what you are getting at, because I think there is a language bearer here.

Many a true word has been said in jest!

Ms. Schneider is definitely good-looking, but I think that a lot more should go into a hiring decision than merely how somebody looks on TV.

How about the sportscaster who said that "Connecticut has won the NAACP tournament!"? Oops.
