"Them guys will be over soon" is ghetto, but do these people even know or care. "How 'bout them apples" rolls off the tongue, but again, do they realize it's wrong? Well, at least I think it is, no?
"Pick up them toys" should be "those toys," no?
"How 'bout them apples" seems to me like an expression that's become part of the language and it's supposed to be that way, sounding sort of funny."Pick up them toys" just sounds wrong and it is wrong.
Something that bothers me (and I'm guilty too) is using "hate" and "love" too often and inappropriately. They are very strong words, and should be reserved (I think) for occasional use. It seems that every day I hear "I hate this or that", or "I just love that...whatever, e.g. color, car, song...
I think the words are overused, but I do that as well.
What ever happened to using the word 'disappeared?' 'Went missing' sounds so stupid.
They don't mean the same thing. A person who "goes missing" retains full opacity. His whereabouts are simply unknown by the person who says he is gone missing.
"Missing persons" are a legal category of people whose whereabouts are unknown by people who expect to know their whereabouts.
