another of those "I don't know how widespread this is, but..." is instead of saying "if I were you" (meaning in your place), it's "if I'm you"...
it gets me every time
I see the misuse of Karma, irony and coincidence all the time, usually online, and they're often confused.
GarlicGuy, I hear people saying "these ones" and "those ones" all the time and it drives me nuts.
And as for mispronunciation, in my local area there's the place name Tahawus. Pronounced properly it should only be two syllables (TA-haws), but I hear many local people--most of which have lived in the area a long time--break it up into three syllables (Ta-HA-was) and it drives me crazy, as well as other locals. That, or out-of-towners skip the middle letters and call it "TA-wus".
And on another note, my favorite sportscaster's blog this morning had a post in which he described what he did recently: "pour over the schedule" of the upcoming basketball season. I hope he didn't get the schedule wet.
Oh, G-d, I hate "irregardless". I cringe every time I hear that word.
Some other favorites:
Immoral/Amoral: "Immoral" means failing to comfort to what the public considers moral behavior. "Amoral" means "neither moral nor immoral" or "having no morality".
Principal/Principle: "Principal" means "most important". "Principle" means a rule or a standard.
"From whence": Redundant. "Whence" already means "from where", so if you say "from whence", it's like saying "from from where".
"Agnostic": A misnomer if I ever saw one. "Gnosis" means "knowledge". So an "agnostic" is not someone who is without belief -- it's someone without knowledge.
People seem to always confuse disinterested and uninterested
