The Tibetan Plateau, Himalayas, Tien Shan, Karokoram, Hengduan, Altai, Altyn Tagh, Kinghan, to name a few (there are 69 in all), producing 46,000 glaciers.
2/3 of China is non-arable, mostly because of the mountains:
exactly what i was thinking... anyways, i dont want to argue politics... ive been living in the middle kingdom for nearly a decade, and ive formed my own opinion regarding the tibet/china contradiction. suffice to say, i dont want to bring this type of discussion onto my thread.
Thanks for the info smool, would you perhaps know how to get hard numbers on that fact im surprised nobody thinks the usa would qualify, by the way. all of colorado, lots of wyoming, montana, arizona, utah, nevada, california, washington, idaho, oregon, and alaska would qualify... not sure about the eastern states though.

Wanted to point out one more thing about your map, which is that it is completely incorrect even from your standpoint, since it doesnt even include the Yellow River areas between Luoyang and Kaifeng which is where Chinese society first emerged from...
