I'm a cabinetmaker/woodworker. I find it very rewarding because at the end of the day ( when I'm employed) , I have tangible results of my work. It also requires precision and a great attention to detail as well as problem solving skills. It is challenging and requires the ability to work with your hands as well as the ability to think. Plus , I don't have to deal with the general public on a daily basis. I enjoy making something as 'perfect' as two human hands can achieve and knowing that my work will probably outlast me for generations.
I have a B.S. and am not a "knuckle dragger", I just like creating and building. Most of my friends are in finance or business and seem only to have achieved shuffling papers and numbers around when the day is done. Most of them envy the simplicity of my work along with it's immediate gratification. If I make a decision and it was a bad one, I know usually right away.
