They have disputed my unemployment and accused me of theft of facility funds and a bunch of other crap.
I was not a check signer, number one.
The petty cash was accessible by more than one person, number two.
I worked my a$$ off doing other person's jobs because they were too lazy and I felt bad for the residents, number three.
I am shocked and dismayed since I am about one of maybe 3 people there that actually didn't lie on a daily basis and steal anything they could get their hands on, number four.
I filed for appeal today and have an appointment with legal aid in a couple of weeks. I also have proof of payroll theft. The Director of Care padded time cards for her boyfriend and I have one copy of a time card with 9 hours and a payroll journal for the same period with 36 hours paid. When I brought this to the owner's attention, all he did was take her off check signing.
This could end up very long but should I do this alone, (the hearing) or have representation??
Tasmtairy, I agree with Izzy, a company that does something like that is not worth working for.
I wouldn't waste my time going through the appeal process, and having to find legal representation, I'd recommend looking around for open opportunities, and submitting your resumes.
About the only thing you should do with your former employer is check with the person who was in charge of your department and tell them to put in a good reference for you, just in case any potential employers decide to call them.
However you chose to handle it Tas, Good Luck. I would want to clear my name.
