Say your employer fires you due to financial reasons [your performance was great and all but they need to cut staff], would you return back to them if they started hiring again?
If you cannot find any other job I say why the hell not. I was going to go back to my old job I was fired from over a year ago but since they do not offer the same benefits because they were bought out a nixed that idea.
If you liked the company and enjoyed working there, and especially if your still looking for a job - why not? Don't let your pride decide for you in this economy.
When I was laid off, I got a call from another department in the same company a few weeks later asking me to come in for a interview. I wasn't working, so why not? However, I never went because I got a better offer elsewhere.
If the company was struggling and had to eliminate some positions but made a quick rebound I would have to honestly think long and hard about it.
While I would have no problem going back as long as the way the company handled it originally was in a professional manner - ie, professional and not personal.
On the other hand, truely how much did the company actually rebound? Are you being brought back only for a couple of months just to be let go again?
Ultimately though, two things would always be in my mind
1. A job is better to unemployment
2. It's easier to find a job when you have a job.
So I would probably go back but continue my job search.
I worked in a brutal environment. Will I risk my good health in going back to an environment like that? Nope! Even though I am on unemployment, I still have my pride and my sanity.
I'd go back if they offered me a decent full time job and kicked the wages up about $2-$4 an hour.
That's not going to happen so...
