If you are unemployed, how are you making it since you don't have a job? Not trying to be nosey, but I am interested in any ideas you might have on how to make it? Thanks.
I have cut down on my bad shopping habit. Paying a little more than the minimum and more often on credit card bills just to stay on top of things. Send out tons of resumes and going on the dreaded interview. Fiancee gives some money and works two jobs. I guess I'm just trying to stay optmistic even though everyday something else is going up including the triple play package I had for cable this year. And please before anyone says cut out cable, internet, cell phone, and house phone, my mom runs a home business so she needs her house phone and cell which I pay for. Cable is a luxury but I'll be damned if I miss out on TLC, A&E, and Oxygen networks. I have also switched auto insurance companies so that payment went down a bit monthly. It's hard but I can say I am doing better than some so I can't complain too much. Stay positive.
We have been recycling metals. There is a recycler about 15 minutes from our house. People throw away soooooo much that can be recycled. Computers, TV sets, BBQ grills, vacuum cleaners, etc.
I am still on unemployment, but in 3 more months, if I don't get something. I will likely take on 2 part time retail jobs (no one hires full time retail). And maybe start selling stuff on ebay?
Honestly we can't cut back much more than we have been. We don't go out to eat. We do have an old car which we could sell, but it is only worth about $1000 or 2000. Already I do no shopping for anything but food, don't go to the doctor and have been putting off going to the dentist as much as possible. There was no vacation this year. Don't go anywhere for entertainment except the library or local parks for entertainment so gas expenditure is minimal. Need high speed Internet because I use it to find jobs on the sites.
Kids upcoming school shoes cost is really worrying me.
I had a nice chunk of change saved up from my last job. If you looked in the dictionary for "miser" you would probably find a reference to me, and that was when I was employed.

Hey, I just looked up the word "miser" and it said a.k.a. J Arp.

I planned ahead and saved for off season expenses. But that's running out so I dropped cable, switch to liablity auto Insurance, cut back on smoking,(I'm at the quitting stage now). Switch to 1 meal aday and only buy food that has to be cooked. mainly chicken and potatoes.
Found a(legal) online job that doesn't pay much, but it helps. Do side jobs and community services. Like someone else said, I need my cell phone, truck and PC to find jobs and contacts for interviews.
I still have some savings left and I decided that it was time to take control of my destiny. I am in the start up phase of a new business venture. I can't waste any more time.
