I chose opposite because sometimes "eventually" never comes, my father worked hard most of his adult life and did very well for himself, he retired at 62 and passed away at 73 so almost 50 years of hard work and only 11 years of doing what he wanted with no clock to punch.
Imagine how much earlier he could have retired if he were paid twice as much.

You can never know when you time is up. Those 11 years probably were happy times for him. Sure 30 more would be great if no medical issues, but as we age, body gets worn out.
He could have retired and dropped dead the next day, week or month. My mother retired at 70, died at 84, Alzheimer's. Last nine months she didn't really know anything.
Living a long life ain't so great when you got tubes in you, or you're confined to bed or wheelchair.
I chose same money at half the hours, because I just got a promotion and a raise at work, which makes me pretty financially comfortable, even in a high COL area.
There are things I wish I had more money for--I'd love to buy a house on a larger plot of land, to have more space between my neighbors and myself, and for my sister to be able to garden to her heart's content, but if I'm working the same number of hours, my time to enjoy that is limited anyway--even moreso, given that finding anything like what I want would involve a long commute.
At my current position and salary, I'd probably do same money but half the hours, assuming that I could work those hours as I see fit (say, do my 40 hours across 3-4 days). Otherwise, I'd go for same hours but twice the pay. There's a lot of good I could do by doubling my pay, which would put me over $300k. I am still in my early 30s, so would be able to retire a lot more quickly this way. But money isn't everything, so I'd be willing to sacrifice some money if I got more time off in terms of days . . . shorter days when I still have to drive into work isn't much of an incentive to me personally.
Same money, half the hours. I live pretty frugal. I would take the extra time to build something on the side that generates just enough income to pay my basic bills.
At my age now (55), I'd go for the same pay for half the hours. 20 years ago, I would have gone for double the income for the same hours. I don't have the energy now to deal with what I could have 20 years ago. Thank goodness I am self employed and can choose how many clients to take on and when to take time off.
I live within my means and am getting old, so I’d take the cut in hours/same $$. If I could counter-offer, I might go 3/4 of the hours, 1/2 fewer stupid emails, same $$.
I like the job, not most of the people, and I really can’t make sense out of the idea to get the job done rather than do it correctly. “Measure twice, cut once.”
