as a woman, every raise or promotion i ever got was due to me asking for it and providing management specific, tangible, measureable reasons why i was worth more money and valuable to the organization. no one ever turned me down for a raise or promotion.

my husband on the other hand never asked for a raise and was promoted regularly.

my experience was when professional men and women were treated differently by management. i doubt it is the same now.

If your boss makes excuses for not paying you well, then that's a VERY LOUD BATSIGNAL that you must immediately start doing a stealth job search. If you get a good offer, take it and quit this job. DO NOT take a counteroffer from this manager, who has proven they do not value you.
Don't make it "too stealthy." You want the brass to find out you're on indeed, shopping.

Agree. You've given the OP two different ways to go about it. Others have also given great input.

The issue is, I'm not sure the OP is convinced s/he should get a raise too for their leadership, their argument is everyone else got raises so s/he should too.

Hopefully OP comes back to give more info on why they deserve that raise too. They should at least practice their reason to everyone here first.

We ultimately stand and fall on our own. Don't count on the "group" or association to save you; just as you wouldn't want to sink or go down with them as well. Clinging to the pack won't make you stand out. You'll just be seen as a backseat passenger.
