I have nice long hair...but it's not very professional looking. I really don't want to cut it. How do you working ladies make your long hair more business-like?

I put mine half up with a rubber band, and then tie the rest back with another rubber band low on the neck. You could use something nicer than a rubber band too, such as a nice clip or barrette. It really helps get my hair out of my way.

A bun is also good but my longer hair is still a tad short to go up easily.

I used to wear a bun, a french twist and sometimes I could hold my arms up long enough to do a french braid.

If you look good with long hair don't cut it, find a way to keep it and work it into something that looks more like what you want.

My hair has a forward growth pattern so when I had long hair, I had to have either head bans, barrettes or clips to keep it out of my face.

There are some great fabric headbands out now that you can get to match different outfits. I like hair combs that are pretty, but not too fancy. I think the ones with the dangling beads and pearls are a bit much for work. I like the braid idea too; it's ideal for keeping your hair out of your way and looking polished all at the same time.

I used to make my own barrettes. You can buy them at craft stores and make them up to match whatever outfit you choose.
