Hi, all. Random question, but I want to send out letters to some of my neighbors about my tutoring services.

Can I write something corny like "Amazing Parent" or "Lovely Neighbor" as their name on the envelope instead of "Current Resident"?

If you don't know their names, you probably can't say they are amazing parents or lovely neighbors.

For my immediate neighborhood, I would probably do a tutoring flyer with something like, "Hi, this is your neighbor Snuffy Smith at 123 Main Street and I wanted to let you know about my tutoring services" Add hours, cost, subject matter and your credentials.

If your neighborhood has a Nextdoor page or a FB group, that might be a better way to reach more people than a flyer in the mail. Lots of people might just throw out a "To Neighbor" envelope.

I agree, most people won't even read junk mail and realize that you are their actual neighbor or what you do. For us it doesn't make it into the house, it's dropped off in the recycle bin. We do sometimes use services recommended on Next Door.

Personally, someone I don't even know addressing me that way would guarantee the envelope would be tossed, possibly even quicker than one addressed to current resident. Its falsely friendly, smarmy. You are offering a professional service not an invitation to gossip over the back fence. Agree with the flyer or Next Door service announcement approach...no need for an addressee.
