If someone leaves without notice or breaks a notice and it's someone i'm HIRING.. that's a big red flag to me. Tells me they'll do the same thing to me.
I always tell anyone who is a candidate.. I ask how much a notice they need to work.. Alarm bells start ringing if they tell me anything less than 2 weeks.
But.. I do leave open the possibility, because this happens as well.. That if they put in a notice and are asked to go ahead and leave.. Let me know, we can start them early. This.. Is not at all uncommon in the IT field.
but.. If someone BSed on that.. It'd be a HUGE strike against them. Meaning, they left without a notice and told me they were told to go ahead and leave.
Now what this topic started as.. Shortening one day.. Yeah.. No big issue to me from the hiring side.

Do you give 2 weeks notice to those being laid off?
