Do you prefer to work 4 x10 or 3x 12 hour days, to have longer weekends.. Seems to be working in other countries, so what is our problem? Work managers/owners demanding more of your time while they get their family time?

As a nation what needs to change?

I work 4 x10, and its my preferred schedule as long as it doesn't start too early. I would not want to work 3x12. What we really need is a 30-32 hour work week. Then I'd work 4 x 8 and would be content as long as the pay was r

I be happy to do 4x10 if my pay stays the same, be better on 3x12. But then owners would cry as they are not getting more out of you, instead have to HIRE more workers to finish off the week. Crying shame they cant get that new boat.

I'm fine with 5x8 hour days.

I also currently work 4x10s and love it. I have 3 days to take care of my business, and if I want to go on a normal week-long vacation I already have half the time off just from my normal days off.

I think a 12 hour shift might be a little much though.

I'd love to work 4 10's or even 3 12's. I've done it in the past and I liked it

My wife is full-time with 3 10h days and one weekend a month (medical), works out to 32h/week which is the minimum to get full-time benefits. So we have a 4-day weekend 3~4 weeks in a row, then a 2-day. Rinse and repeat. We've looked at making changes to our lives that would eliminate this work routine, and the end result was that the work routine was one of the most important things in life (maybe slightly behind living where income outpaces COL, maybe tied with).

No, but I work at place where I can work 6:30 to 3 so it is pretty easy to schedule doctor appointments after work on weekdays and not have to use sick time. If I had a 4-day week, I’d have to actually use my off day or sick time to go see a doctor instead of just finishing early to go see my doctors. The last place I worked was also pretty flexible and let me just flex my time for appointments if I needed to.

I already work 10 hour days, sometimes more. Not everybody here works as much, but almost everybody puts in at least 45.

I would probably be in favor of four 10 hour days, and they just cut my salary by 20% and I go 'part time' even though I'm still working 40+ hours, but that would probably put me on the fast track to unemployment.

Anybody who has your straight 40 hour weeks, get out at 5 on the dot every day, you already have it really good in 2018, trust me.

I think the irony is that the more downtime you have at your job, the more the flex time is appealing.
