My company is going through some changes so I figured I would put feelers out to see what I came across. Almost immediately I started interviewing with another company. I have never passed on an interview so figured I would give it a try.

Yesterday I had my third interview and realized I am not ready to move to another job. However I would like to keep the opportunity open if in the future I start looking again as it does sound like a great company and exactly what I would want to move to.

I have never bowed out in the middle of an interview process. Any suggestions so I don't burn this bridge?

Well, if they call and make an offer then tell them "I am sorry, but I have decided to not go forward with this and thank you for the time"

Then hope it didn't hurt, but I wonder, why you are backing out?

Moving issue?
Employment issues?
Money?

Send them a note or call and tell them you are withdrawing your candidacy, that a change from your current position isn't in your best interest at this time, and thank them for their time.

Simple.

If you're absolutely certain you don't want to leave your current place of work, email, or better still phone, your interviewers of your new job asap, and let them know you have decided to stay put! They will then be able to contact other candidates they initially turned down in favour of yourself.
