Why is it ridiculous now and not after the first missed pay check? What is truly ridiculous is a person still working for that company and still not getting paid. No I take that back, it's not ridiculous, that's just plane old stupid!

There is a chance, that even if you file a complaint today, they can just go belly up and you get squat, nothing, nada, zip. All the work you performed and time you spent was just charity as an unpaid volunteer. So, tell your employer first thing tomorrow you expect a check by end of day for all back wages. If they do not have a check by end of day, file a complain and file for unemployment benefits. At least do something intelligent and get something for your time!

I just can't believe that in today's modern world people would wonder what to do!

If they can't afford to pay you now, they can't afford to keep you on later. Quit and get something else.

This all sucks and we wish you the best but staying 2 months without any pay is a huge waste of time and resources. I hope you get every dollar and then some owed to you.
how many people are in this company. its hard for me to believe that everyone is working for free (taking a minor loss for transportation and lunch) for so long ?

Wow, I couldn't imagine it might happen in the USA.

Or maybe OP is working in some third world country?

I can almost assure you that you won't get paid fully. The fact that it has been a full two months and that your employer is not telling you what's going on....tells me everything I need to know. Good luck with your job hunt!

Two months without being paid?

This is a theft of your time and you have enabled it.

Where are you located?

I assume this is a small business.

No one has been paid? Or just you?

Assuming you are in the US, file a complaint with your state labor board and move on, immediately.

If the business has any assets you become a preferred creditor. If not, you are SOL.

I once worked as a consultant for a healthcare company in California on a 5 month contract. They paid me fine for the first few months and suddenly the cheques (for both my agreed on labour costs and the significant expenses they agreed in writing to pay me because they hired me from quite some distance away) stopped coming. I first talked to the manager ... who promised me that the funds would be forthcoming quickly - I insisted on 2 days being the limit I would wait. Second move was to quit. Third move was to keep on that manager's back because I sensed that the company was in big trouble (and I was right). I was reasonable but insistent. I didn't let up. I called every day. I emailed every day. The effort luckily paid off for me. Just before the company went completely under, I got paid in full.

Squeaky wheel gets the grease. Do something NOW or you will regret it later. Don't yell and scream but find the ONE person (or agency) who can help you and keep on their case till they do.

I had something similar happen to me & I have to agree with the other posters here; I doubt that you will get paid. Cut your losses & try to make up for lost time. I feel for you; when this happened to me I didn't have enough of a "cushion" saved up & it destroyed my credit.

Don't let that happen to you. I don't even think most people know how close they are to living "paycheck to paycheck". Once you have zero credit & are forced to live within your means you realize how vunerable you are.

The worst thing is that you don't even know how bad this can be until a few months go by. And I "only" let about 2 pay periods go by. I also was not the only one this happened to at the company I worked for & we ALL got screwed.

Usually your State labor office responds quicker and nets the employee who hasn't been paid more. The Feds often can only recover the minimum wage.

Act fast...
