Hello,

I'm starting my new job tomorrow and the email said that they have a casual dress code. Is this business casual or just casual casual?

What are your thoughts?

I would play it safe and go business casual. Perhaps, a dress shirt, slacks and sports jacket (no tie) if you're a guy, or business casual dress for a woman. Once you get a feeling of what others wear, dress as you see is appropriate.

Casual often refers to a polo shirt, well fit jeans or pants, and casual shoes. But each company has its own culture. Some companies will let you be extremely casual (t shirt and jeans) while others really mean business casual (collared shirt and khakis).

I am female. I checked on their glassdoor reviews and people have said it's a super casual wear environment unless there are clients which we are told in advance. Should I still play it safe?

Did you not interview on site and see what the other employees wore?

I would always play it safe on your first day.

Good point ha, I interviewed on a Friday and thought it was casual Friday. The two interviewers wore jeans and tshirts...

Still go less casual than the people who interviewed you.
