What is your wierdest excuse to take a mental health day from your job and what is your favorite one. Do you like to use your excuse on mondays or fridays. I like the one time excuse which is I passed a kidney stone. I really did pass a stone one time and have picture of it which I show as prof with a phony doctors note if any one asked.

I've never taken a mental health day per se. It sounds like too much of a BS excuse for a day off. Where I work we have PTO. So if I need, I just take it as a vacation day. It all works out the same. If I said something like 'mental health', my boss would probably laugh silly.

LOL, a mental health day is BS. That's the point. Basically, you just want to take off. What the OP is asking is what fictional excuse would you use to play hooky. I have used my kids as an excuse. I've even used my dog (emergency trip to the vet). The old standby is some kind of malfunction in the house that requires me to wait for a repair man. I'm not very creative with my excuses.

I took a sick day due to 'pulled stomach muscles from coughing too much!'
I WAS sick & had been coughing up a storm, but I didn't pull any stomach muscles
Just wanted to stay in bed.

I claimed that I couldn't even stand up straight b'c my tummy was so sore & when I got back to work, I got all the sympathy in the world!

I just tell my boss the day before that I need a mental health day. As long as I'm caught up on my work, she's OK with that.

If I'm calling in "sick," though, I usually have a stomach virus.
