Hey all, I think there is a mis understanding. Few weeks I was in dilemma , if my current company would even give me a bonus if I resign. Therefore, I didnt negotiate further with my new company to extend start date by one more week.
My current company sees me as a top performer and is saying me to stay back another 5 days and collect the full bonus I am eligible for. They are being nice to me. They are also seeing if they can create an exception in the policy to let me leave earlier but still collect the bonus.
Its just that if in case they are unable to create an exception, Is it a good idea to even tell / ask for 1 more week start extension at the new employer?

You've handled this badly. You already asked for an extension and then you waited a month when you knew this situation came up, and you still haven't done anything about it.
At this point I think it's too late to ask for more time and I would just start as scheduled.

It's Wednesday and you have agreed to start on Monday, correct? It's too late now to change your start date.

Putting it off is never the best option. A better approach would have been to negotiate back then for a later start date, just in case. An even better option would have been to delay your start date by two weeks instead of one the first time you asked them for a delay.
