She has been there 2 months and has been an hour or so late a few times and left and hour early twice. A few minutes late almost everyday. Called in last month because her teenage daughter was sick. Then last week went home sick at noon saying she had an ear infection (oh and said she didn't need an antibiotic for it), then called in the next day. Then an hour late the next day because of the rain (and she lives one town over). Then today came in at 11 because she sprained her ankle. This is a very large company but I haven't seen anything about probationary periods.

Assuming you're not her boss: None of your business. Shut up and do your job. Let her boss worry about it.

Like I always tell people (and post here), if you're watching what the next person is doing, you're not doing your job.

Whether she is getting her job done should be the predictor as to whether the company should keep her around.

If her job function is such that it isn't necessary for her to be there exactly 480 minutes every weekday, then don't get your panties in a wad about it. Americans work enough as it is, IMO.

As an aside, busy-bodies who are worried about their coworker's schedules do not make for happy work environments.

Such rude people. And yes if impacts us because we are very busy and then have to cover her work.

You asked for an answer. You received an answer.

Nothing rude about it just because you don't like the answer.

Then stop covering for her. Problem solved.

Let the employer deal with it. Who's going to watch your back when you lose your job for minding other people's affairs?

No one.

Unless it directly affects you as the individual, mind your business.
