I work at Macy's and 90% of the time, I'm more than happy to help you and other customers out, provided you read and understand what's on the fine print, what our policies are and not act like a spoiled entitled 5 year old who throws a stink because things aren't going your way. You actually have the common sense and courtesy to bring a receipt and tag when you want to return something and not take 30 minutes of my time looking up your merchandise or calling the operator to look up for purchase records. Make my job and time easier, and I'll gladly help you.
Don't bring a box of things to return with no proof of purchase or else you can expect me or other associates to send you to another register. I've had customers sent to 7 different registers.
And for the love of god, don't be THAT customer who buys expensive stuff and return things the next day. If I put three hours into helping you and realize that you're returning the same things I helped you with, and do it consistently, I can promise you, I won't help you. If you're rude to me, I'll let someone else deal with you. Your returns penalize me regardless of your reasons.
I'm on minimum wage, and I do not get paid enough to deal with disrespectful customers, and being whipped like a slave for little reward. Most of us have to survive by learning which customers are worth helping(ex. Lady with 20 Coach bags and M.Kors jeans), stealing sales from co-workers, just so we can get a bigger paycheck.
