If you had the option to choose, which working hours would you pick in a 40-hour workweek?

I was on the fence between 9-5 and 10-6, but I wound up voting for 9-5. My last job was 10-6:30, and I loved the less-congested commute and not having to get up at the crack of dawn. But on the minus side, we wound up eating out a lot since I wouldn't even be able to start cooking dinner until 7:15 at the earliest. Plus I was always missing out on happy hours and social gatherings that happened when my friends and industry contacts got off work and I was still at the office.

When I had inflexible office hours, I always preferred 7-3PM or 8-4PM.

40 hours!
For 32 years or more I have worked no more than 16-24 hrs a week.
1-6pm.
Should I not have posted, sorry...don't want anyone mad at me.

(At 27 I said, I want to work less, earn more....and made that happen.
May this inspire a young person to do the same...you can do anything
you set your mind to.)

In which career field did you work in?

6am-2pm or 7am-3pm (which when I was still at a 2nd job, those were my hours)... I'm a morning person.

I picked the start time I work now, 6am, but 6-2 is only 8 hours. I like to take a lunch break for 1/2 hour (required by law) so it's 6am-2:30pm.

I work 8-4. I eat lunch at my desk.

I prefer 7-3 so that I can avoid traffic. And I, too, eat lunch at my desk.

I do 6-2, but only because of my hellish DC commute. Coming and going early allows me to avoid the gridlock and have a 1-hour each way commute instead of 2-3 hours each way.

In an ideal world, I'd work 10-6.
