A commercial came on and the announcer spoke of hiring people who believe in the same core values.

I actually don't think any companies HAVE any core values. They do what they are required by law to do and nothing more that won't enhance their bottom line. If a decision made will utterly destroy a whole town, but would bring great profit and nobody would know that the company did it, they would.

I find car commercials where they tout their new safety features - features they are the first to bring to market - yet also happen to be required by new government regulations to be particularly lame.

So, I am curious. Do you think corporations actually have any values or is that just marketing bs?

No. They do.

I work for an F100 and you'd never find our core values in an ad, but you will find it in your reviews - which will impact any raise.

They do, But it involves what makes them the most money. Nothing else really matters in the grand scheme of them

Exactly.
Yes, ours are on paper, and paraded before us at our annual trainings.
For the past couple of years my company has been trying to attain "Great Place to Work" status and this is somehow tied to the company values. Of course, there is no support for this, but in my department we all had to come up with a GPTW activity. I created a picture board of the people who are now working from home. Stupid. But hey, I will get a good evaluation for doing so. That's what counts, right?

Of course they do. Look at the F500 companies. They didn't all get there by nickel and diming.
