And yet she didn't drive over an IED in Iraq. She has "options". One of them is even more kids. Whooohoo.

Right... and if you can afford a contract, or even a cell phone, you are doing just fine.

And that's fine. Fast food jobs are great for kids.

Comparing CEO salaries with working at McDonald's is crazy. They are in no way related. Nearly all McDonald's are owned by individual owners as Franchise holders. Those individual store owners, are not making millions of dollars.

McDonald's has to hold down their prices, due to competition. If prices go over a certain level, people quit going to those stores any longer. They have priced out a large part of their business.

As to what McDonald's pays, depends on where you live in this country. The one in our small town, was paying my teen age grandson $11 an hour 3 years ago. They have a help wanted sign constantly, and often put up starting wage of $14 an hour on he sign. They have to pay more, to get any help. Over in North West Montana and North East North Dakota you see $22 an hour offered on their reader boards outside the store. They are paying the wages the article writer is getting, because there is such a surplus of potential employees.,

Normal breakdown of income for a fast food restaurant is, 30% for food, 30% for wages, and 40% to pay the rent and McDonald's franchise fees. Money to remodel and keep up the store. Money for new equipment, and supplies. The profit percentage is small for the franchise owner. Double the wages as the article writer demands, and the store will be losing money. They really can't raise the prices enough to cover the higher wages, or their total sales will drop considerably and they are back to losing money.

The store will just fire most of the help, and put in an automated burger making system. On person keeping the bins stocked, and the machine turns out 350 burgers per hour. At today's wages for typical McDonald's the machine will pay for itself in one year. Raise the wages to $15 per hour, and the machine will pay for itself in a very few months, and then will earn the owner higher profits.

Push for unions and $15 an hour wages, and you will be immediately replaced with a machine to make the burgers, and a touch screen ordering and paying system. One person to fill the machine bins, one to hand out the order. One to keep the lobby clean. And the owners will greatly increase their profits for the restaurant.

Did you read her manifesto @ post #1. It is beautifully written and researched. She is hardly stupid.

How naive are you? You seriously can't even imagine what it's like to work paycheck to paycheck or have a limited skillset or limited time? Just because you can sit there and click around city-data or monster.com all day doesn't mean average people can.

It's takes less time to upload your resume to Monster than it takes having 4 kids. last time I checked having kids is pretty time consuming. so clearly she has a lot of time on her hands. it's just that some people are more productive than others in utilizing their time.

Seriuosly, all that did for me is give me another mouth to feed.

I still wonder why people think marriage is the answer.
Marriage had put me into poverty, not helped me out.

People can't seem to separate morailty from other things.

Who cares if she is married or not?
Does that absolve us to help her?

Agreed and yet no one has answered the question.

The limited skillset ain't stopping the other 1 million workers from leaving a 700k workforce every year. Since she has been there, 10 million people with "limited skillset" have come and gone.
