I had to blow the whistle on a guy in my office (on a military base). He was always wearing dark trench coats and clothes, even in the summer. One day he brought in some Guns & Ammo magazines and showed us a some plans for building a bomb on the internet, bragging about it.

I went straight to security and told them about it. This was after Columbine but before 9/11.

Ten minutes later they escorted him out of the building, relieved him of his badge, and eventually his clearance was revoked.

With GA being an "at will; right to work state" Meaning they fire you for anytime for any reason without any real cause. This why so many jobs come here and people are moving here. So the question is if you work in GA who has NOT got fired? #I'mNotLying #ItsRealLaw #GotoGADeptLaborWebsite #ItsPostedWithBellsOn #EmployersAbuseThisLawLikeAPimp&Hooker

This employee acted appropriately in telling her supervisor what was going on- it's the supervisor's responsibility to deal with a situation such as the OP described. And if you read the OP's post, she mentioned that her supervisor directly observed the behavior on the part of the two other employees so saw what they were doing. It was the supervisor's decision to fire the new employee.

I disagree with you, it should be common sense of manager to properly direct the flow of the new hire. If that had been done by the manager, the OP would not have seen her work piling up. Again, she could not have been yakking by herself, she was introduced to the company culture by the girl training her.

Poor management direction and follow up with a new hire and then rash decisions to fix a problem the manager allowed to go on for 2 months unaddressed. Incompetency is on management.

Maybe the other girl training her gave her the wrong impression of the work culture. She can't force someone to train her properly but you had the opportunity to step in and help someone out. Instead, you decided to run and tell on a new hire and get the person fired. Do you feel better now that someone lost their job because of you??? Real nice!!!!
hey OP, i think the person you got fired is here

also, yeah ive canned people before. i have a very low tolerance for mess ups, given that i work on ciscos for a VERY large oil company and if our network goes down, people get REALLY pissy.

finally, karma real? LOL. just learn how to watch your back and start crap properly and stuff never comes back to you.

oh snap i jynxed myself...

Some years ago I pulled into a gas station to fill up. This woman attendant (and I'm NOT saying to be sexist or racist, just stating a point) I tell her the amount I want. All the time, she's on her cell phone, jibber-jabbering away in Spanish. I had my son in the car with me; we're both concerned about the gas fumes mixed with cell phone waves. So I politely say to her, "Talking on cell phone while pumping gas isn't safe" She gets an attitude, slams the gas nozzle back in the dispenser. Then she SNATCHES my money from my hand, THROWS my change down into my lap! I get out of the car and confront her. Rather than do something I'll later regret, I go in, get the station number, and after pulling away I call the corporate office, tell them the station number and location. The corporate office was REALLY apologetic. Notified the District Manager, who notified the station manager. Next day, I got a call from the manager, who apologized and told me that that woman was no longer working there, she was terminated.

Getting the reward money even though you called anonymously, hmm...

In that case, why not report your co-worker anonymously?

I just don't believe in helping someone get fired. Karma is real. Even if I am doing my job, if I get someone else fired, it will come back on me later.
You're looking at this the wrong way. If someone isn't doing their job, then the karma happens to them when they get fired. Forget about what you did, they didn't do their job, so they deserve to be fired.

Would you still not do anything if they're not doing their job and that results in you having to work 50-60 hour weeks?

I have to agree with you. The manager should have had the op train the new hire since she was supposed to help her. And why didn't the manager ever address the constant chatting between the trainer and trainee? Having said that I put no blame on the op. It's not her job to manage the other employees.

I have reported chronically atrocious, horrible, and unprofessional behavior of three coworkers and two supervisors over the years I have been at my company (over ten)..

In each case, it was absolutely a case of abjectly poor management and/or lack of oversight of these employees.

After months of putting up with behavior that I would personally EXPECT To be immediately fired for.... in each case, I eventually reported the behavior to someone who had some influence on whether that person would keep working there or not. And I had strong relationships with the people I did report to, so I felt it was not going to come back to bite me in any way.

Interestingly, in two of these cases, the people quit just before they would have been fired.
