I think eBays best days are over. Too much competition, too many listing fee increases and too many scams and hassles.
Someone really needs to create a competitor!

This.

Ebay functions like an arm of the government now. Wish all sellers would pull their auctions and not post for 1 week just to make a point.

Not only possible, but fact. They seem to have different scales for different categories, his was musical equipment. Evidently, there are cheaper categories because I see people selling $5 stuffed animals on there and I wonder how the hell they make any money by the time Ebay hits them up.

My husband has been selling on ebay for 12 years--car transmission parts from his shop as he retired and used that for income now but I started helping him out and just last year with a few yard sale items I would find and try to sell and then he was diagnosed with ALS so now I do most of the listing, packing and sending. My opinion is it is more work then it is worth honestly! Now we are trying to compete with Toy's R Us, WalMart etc.--Really??? They can offer free shipping etc- I can"t. Ebay allows the big stores to use my site for advertising! With all of these reality shows--American pickers etc they make people having yard sales think they have a gold mine--they don't. Most of the things they have are yard sale items---used and sometimes collectible but most often not. They are asking higher prices then I can ask....and I still have to find the items, use my gas, my packing material, my time with taking pictures and listing, and of course then I must pay my ebay fees and PayPal. We only do it to survive right now but soon--very soon I will find a better way!
There is way to much competition on ebay now--even precious collectibles are going for a fraction of what they use to. Those days are long gone. I work long and hard hours for our ebay business and make zip for an income--but it beats nothing right now. As far as anyone listing a hundred items in a day--not alone or they know something I don"t.

What I love about Ebay is the fact you can order a check instead of having it put into your account

What I don't love is its drawn off of Wells Fargo. They want my Drivers License, A Credit Card -AND- A fingerprint in order to cash it. BUT.. they cash it for free...We just noticed Bank of America didn't charge $5 to cash a check either so maybe banks are toning down on that

Does anyone know what the requirements are to be a Top Rated Seller and their yearly sales requirements of such?

I have two Top Rated seller accounts and got a message one was in jeopardy. I was told the yearly selling requirement is $300 except when I hit the link on track for whatever date, it says I am on track. And it lists $1000 as the yearly seller requirement.

It was 3000 about 5 years ago then it was lowered to 1000. She kept ignorning the fact it said $1000 then conflicted saying $3000 in a different place. And she said her supervisors were too busy to respond so we got no where. Both my Accounts have these same errors, in one spot it lists $3000 (same spot in seller dashboard) and in another spot in seller dashboard it lists the requirements as 3000. What upset me is they notify me way too late...triple the requirement volume then give me less than 2 weeks to live up. These games aren't a part of being a Seller on Amazon.

Did they up the level to $3000 sales volume per year again?
