I currently work as a receptionist at a law firm. I took this job after I was unable to get a full time job in news, and I really needed a full time position with benefits. But now I am ready to move on and go into a different field. I have decided to go into PR and at the advice of a career counselor, I am seeking to assist a freelance publicist to gain experience so I could have something to offer to employers.
However, I made a terrible mistake at the law firm recently, and my job is on the line now. One more mistake and I'm done. I am walking on eggshells now and I really need to get out of there. Problem is, I had begun my search for PR work as indicated by my LinkedIn and social media, where I have spoken to a few people in PR. I fear that if I were to apply at any admin job that I'm qualified for, and the recruiter searches me online, they'll have all the proof that I have no intention of staying in that job for long and will be looking for something else in the meantime.
So how do I look for a new job that I really need now, but keep aiming for what I really want to do? I know erasing my social media footprint would be the best decision but I'm worried that may not help much.
