I have a real job, but for extra money, I took on another job at a supermarket for extra spending money. I hated it from day one; low pay, I had an ass for a boss (he was the manager, not the owner), the job they gave me was boring and most of the people I worked with were ignorant, gossipy morons. Reminded me of high school all over again. I gave my assy boss my two weeks notice, and he told me that I couldn't get the job back if I did that, so I told him "I don't care, because I never want to step foot in this s***hole ever again." He then told me to leave immediately; which was good since I didn't have to endure 2 more weeks of that tyrant. I was only there for two months.
As a temp assignment, I worked for 7 hours setting up Christmas displays at a department store. I was very desperate for work at the time.
In my industry I have helped out on sets as an independent contractor but it was only a 4 or 5 day jobspan. That's the one drawback; I don't have steady hours.
2 hours. Waitress, Japanese restaurant. The head waiter told me to collect the ashtrays, but he had a heavy accent and it sounded just like "correct the ashtrays," so I went around and just straightened all the ashtrays a little. They gave me 2 hours pay and sent me on my way.
I once had a job for about 10 minutes. The job ad and interviewer had totally lied as to what the job was (I interviewed for an office assistant job at an electronics company). When I arrived at work my first day, the job turned out to be phone solicitation for magazine subscriptions! I made 3 or 4 calls, and realized I could not intrude upon people's lives like that (this was before "do not call" lists). I walked out after 10 minutes.
In HS for about four hours I stood on a platform several feet off the ground and graded cucumbers that were coming down a conveyor belt. Dizzying experience that gave me empathy for those that had no other options.
