Ok, I am a guy who is not a "fashion plate". As a matter of fact I wish that you could get away with wearing coveralls in ANY job situation. It would make things so much easier but unfortunately some people think dressing up for work somehow makes them more effective....whatever

So, here I am with s "summer wardrobe" that I forced myself to buy in order to "fit in". Things like khakis pants and various polo/golf type shirts. (I refuse to go with the tie/white shirt B.S.). Now that winter is here I will probably need to get some more appropriate "wintery" type stuff to wear.

I am doing some work independently with small to midsized business but also looking for a j.o.b. to help tide me over. The positions I am seeking are with small to midsized business that typically do not "suit up" and I feel it would be best to show up in business casual.

My question is - what are people wearing in a business casual environment these days in the winter (males)?

I haven't had to worry about it much here in Tennessee because the weather has been warm enough but it is changing soon so I have to make a trip to J.C. Penny.....

Just swap the polos for button down shirts.

Thanks for the tips. Like I said, I am not much into clothing and having perviously worked in manufacturing it was never an issue. (company issued polo shirts year round). Now that I have to dress myself I wasn't too sure what "business casual" is in the winter

Basically this. Unless you bought specifically summer slacks, then your pants you would wear in the Summer would work in the Winter.

Actually for me, I have a couple of thinner pants made for Summer and I still wear them in the Winter.

Unless you spend a lot of time outside, most of what you wear in the summer will work jsut fine. Get a few long sleeve shirts and maybe a nice sweater. Add a sports coat if you can afford it. With Christmas coming up, you should be able to find a lot of stuff on sale right now.
