Many successful, professional people find themselves in similar situations.
Please consider utilizing the services of a certifiedlife coach. While career counselors can be helpful - a life coach can support and propel you to sort through all aspects of your life and how a career change can be a positive part of the big picture.
After all - what good would a new career or job be if it didn't compliment your interests, family, friends. etc?
Just read a few books, that will give you all the advice you would get from them, and they charge big time---my dh paid $5000 for a farce of a course, just a bunch of worksheets, like what are your strengths and weaknesses, etc...then they never bothered to give any real advice, just a printout type of response, like you're good with people (as opposed to what, martians?), you're a take-charge person, blah, blah.....its a racket.
Or, perhaps you could find free or low-cost career counseling at a college, church, etc? My dh joined a support group for the unemployed at our church, at my insistence. No, it didn't paint the way to the perfect job, but at least it got him out of the house once a week, blow the cobwebs off his brain, and let him realize he wasn't the only one looking for a job at his age.
Or, perhaps you have insurance that covers counseling? Get their provider list, call and ask if they specialize in career counseling, at least you would only pay a copay.
I would suggest just working with a regular counselor or social worker to find out why you are unhappy with your current job, look at some jobs similar to the skills you have, and read some books on careers. I would not suggest real estate right now. What makes you unhappy with your current job? That is the starting point.
Does career counseling really help ? I am in mid 30's, an Engineer, not really satisfied with a Job ?
I am very good in maths/finance, what can I do for a part time career ? I am very good in Finance/Math.
I am really confused what shall I do ? become a realtor/CPA ?
Don't be confused, in the real world, most folks are not satisfied/happy with what they do. They just went with the first door that opened, had a sucessful career and moved on to dream job later in life.
To hire someone to tell you what to do with your life is stupid. You are smarter than that.
