Curious as if anyone knows of opportunities to volunteer or work abroad, more particularly in Afghanistan. Currently I'm employed as a PHP/Pythin/Django developer and make a decent living despite not having a degree, but at the age of 28 I feel as though my reasons for working are all motivated by meaningless, vain goals (cars, clothes, etc....). I feel as though I'm only working to buy things and I want to lead a more socially and culturally productive life by way of helping others. I'm zeroing in on Afghanistan simply because I've been in tune with cultural Geography since age 8 and have always found this country interesting. Even more so are the conflicts that have torn apart what was once a productive, advancing society. So does anyone have any clues or suggestions? Nothing supporting the war efforts....seems a bit hypocritical.
*sigh*...the good ole "google it" as if I havent. I'm looking for those with experience volunteering abroad that may offer advice not given in the ever popular "American work abroad" article that pops up. Been "goggle-ing" the subject for over a year. I'm a web developer for christ sakes.
Thanks for the "advice".
