I am a Nebraska Elementary teacher planning to relocate to Wyoming (Cheyenne area) or Colorado (Fort Collins area). Any information you could provide as a current Wyoming or Colorado teacher would be greatly appreciated! Have you implemented RTI? Performance pay?

I am not a teacher, but have a friend whose wife is a teacher and who has lived both in Wyoming and Colorado for his whole life. He says that the financing mechanism for schools is much more sustainable in Wyoming than in Colorado, and that it is virtually impossible to get a teaching job in Colorado these days.
Just a data point. Best wishes in your move.

As a certified teacher in Wyoming, I think you have a better chance teaching here than in Co., however the weather there is probably better in many ways. If you like small town life, you'll like most of Wyo. I will warn you that when I moved from Montana, the Professional Teaching Standards Board (PTSB) found "deficiciencies" on my certificate. Personally, I have a hypothesis that they are in league with the University of Wyo. to get people to spend more money there taking useless classes they don't really need. I would contact the PTSB (Cheyenne) to find out what you need to teach here. There are quite a few jobs, especially in hard to fill areas and remote locations. You will find that Wyoming schools do have ALOT more money than Co.

Thanks so much! It is a difficult decision. I am working on getting my Wyoming teaching certificate, but I need to take another history class to meet their certificate requirements. I love small town living because I grew up in a big city so Wyoming would probably be the place to be!
