This upcoming week I'll be working at the chain dollar store, Dollarama, for a full week Monday to Thursday. I only worked there once this week, my boss wanted to make me feel comfortable earlier. I'll be working as a cashier and someone from the head office will be coming by and passing as a regular customer, to watch my performance. I don't think I was told if he/she will be purchasing something to watch me better or just browse around near the cash area and get little glances of me working.
So I suppose I should just be friendly with all the customers this week, speak up louder than usual and maybe even smile a little? Should I do more just to perform better for the mysterious customer?

Shouldn't you be providing friendly customer service all the time? If so, then you just continue to do your job. If not, then you need to work on improving your customer service skills before you find yourself without a job.
Ha ha, so someone from the head office is coming in as a mystery shopper. I remember the days when I posed as a mystery shopper testing out restaurant, retail store staff without revealing my identity...it was a blast.
As to what you should do, just try to be extra friendly, smile and dress professionally without going over the top (business casual or something), no tie. You still want to fit in.
