Hello,From Maryland...well after much discussion my Hubz is flying out to Minot over the holiday weekend. He currently wrks with a fella who used to work out in the fields..and has some leads to follow. Since he has 25 years experience as a Construction Superintendent/Carpenter he is hoping to get a high paying job in that field if possible. The plan is to have resume in hand and drive around for the four days checking things out. We have written down some of the other towns ppl. have mentioned he should look in too..outside the Williston and Minot areas. We have four small children and would like for him to be able to come home maybe at least once a month!
Anyone have any advice on the job prospects in the construction field..he will be looking at any jobs really that pay well..but that would seem a good fit. Also any other areas he should check out?..things to bring with him?? ..thanks for any guidance you can provide

Have you checked out the jobsnd.com employment website? Do a statewide search on "carpenter" or any other key word and call the employers to find out their current situation and what they want. There are literally hundreds of jobs right now that fit "carpenter". Many potential jobs can be ruled out just based on a phone conversation, so his time can be better spent.

Also check out carpenter ads on Craigslist or post an add on Craigslist.

Keep in mind too that airfare from Minot to Baltimore-Washington Int is about $600 / trip and that is with buying over a month ahead. Over the course of a year, that is a rather large chunk. Is it possible the whole family can move?

One of the bigger developments in the Minot area is in the (now) small town of Surrey. Try to get ahold of the builders here and ask questions.
Welcome to Silver Springs

Here's a larger development in the Williston area.
