hubby and I want to retire from NY and move to Asheville. Want a home not a condo.. what towns outside the city are most desireable? have heard of Arden.. Weaverville etc. What do you think of the new Biltmore homes?

I suggest you further search this forum and see what towns sound like a good fit. There is quite a bit of information on here regarding the towns surrounding Asheville, but the best thing to do is visit - often - to get a feel for what feels right to you.

"Desirable" all depends on what you are looking for, and you didn't really specify what you are looking for. If I could live anywhere in the area, I would probably choose Weaverville. But that's just me; you really need to provide more info to get the help you're looking for.
