We're headed up in 2 weeks for a long weekend and are looking for good eats. We're bringing our 1 year old, so nothing fancy. I'm well aware of the 'tourist' aspect of Chimney Rock, but we are hoping to find a decent spot for lunch/dinner that has good food/won't break the bank.

Thanks!

Any opinions on La Strada, Alyssa's or Backdoor? Larkins looks great, but wasn't sure if it was ok for our little one.

Here are a couple links from the archives of this forum, which talk in detail about all the restaurants and stuff to do in Chimney Rock/ Lake Lure. I'm sure you'll find SOMEplace from all the ones discussed at the links below:

We ate at a "british pub" in Blowing Rock, not because it was british but because the prices were reasonable and it was January and freezing cold!

Food wasn't particularly authentic but they have lots of beers on tap and a good choice of food (not all british) at not bad prices. Food was nice and service was good and it does have a cosy atmosphere.

We wanted to try Knight's On Main Restaurant - Blowing Rock NC Restaurants, but we weren't sure on the street number at the time, so after walking in either direction for a short way in the freezing cold we gave up!

Thanks gigimac! We drove through about a month ago (MIL lives in McDowell Co), but didn't have time to eat. I had read some horrific reviews on restaurants in Chimney Rock, so we wanted to steer clear. Looks like La Strada might be our best bet.

I've eaten at Larkin's several times and think it would be fine for kids, especially if it's nice enough to eat outside. You have a great view of the lake, and can watch people pull up and dock their boats. The menu is kid-friendly, too, if I remember correctly.
