Is there a way to look up deeds and mortgages online?
I tried using Google but could not get a link to public records for Clay County.
I want to look up a piece of property that was purchased by a relative.
Thanks!

Your GOOG must have been sleeping; easy to find:
Clay County, North Carolina Free Public Records Directory

It's a public/gov't link, so hopefully it won't get tossed.

I didn't peruse it, but our Haywood County link looks a bit different
and more user friendly, but it should be easy to find every property,
the owner, the trans. price, the taxes, the assessment, the dimensions, etc.

david, I spent 20 minutes trying to get what I need from that sight to no avail.
It's all advertising and keeps directing me to People Search Pro.

EDIT: WFR,
Fuggetaboutit!
That link sucks, too.
I think you will have to call/write the sleepy gov't there...

Sorry, I didn't peruse it and did not
see the commercial grabs...
Did you try this one? :
North Carolina Assessor and Property Tax Records Search Directory - Page 2

As it says on the above site, some counties are not net linked yet; Clay may still be caught in
the '80s, lol! If so, you will have to call/write the County Clerk/Register of Deeds, et al.

Haywood, a small pop county also, has amazing on-line info...
