Night Life in Asheville and pictures (houses, nightlife, farmers market)

Since we are new to the area, my g/f and I were curious on some good bars to see bands play or decent night clubs around Asheville. We attempted to get out last night but were to tired.

Went on a little sunday drive to black mountain then to the Farmers Market which is awesome.

Also, know of any good places to get pictures of mountains etc around asheville. I kinda want to get a good look out but cant find any that aren't already taken up by houses. Would also like to get a shot of downtown asheville.

For nightlife, pick up a copy of the newspaper Mountain Xpress. It is full of stuff about music places downtown and so forth. To get a shot of downtown Asheville, husband and I used to go up early evenings on the first part of Town Mountain Road and pull off on a side street, and we'd get a few from up there. And for an unobstructed view of the mountains, go up on the Parkway, lots of pulloff spots. I'm sure there are plenty of other suggestions, but those are just the ones I'm used to.
