Apparently, I signed up for real estate notifications from Zillow and there are many homes for sale in both the Lake Lure and Burnsville area. Seems like a lot to me. Some places look really nice, others not so much. Is there something going on in that area that would cause all this activity? Maybe people selling vacation or rental homes? You can tell some of these places have been refurbished. Prices run a wide range. Just curious.
Sorry to say folks, but Zillow is not reliable. Repeat: Not reliable. The only accurate real estate website throughout the country is: www.Realtor.com You're wasting time and effort using anything else, especially if you are a serious buyer. Set up an account with your criteria (not every nit picking item, or you won't get many results) -- and you will get the up to date listings every day as they come on the market, as well as statistics.
Lake Lure is quite 'far out' and ok for a summer place maybe, but not many people want to live there permanently. Burnsville is 'cute' pretty scenery, higher elevation = colder, more snow, can also be isolating. You can tell the better subdivisions/areas by how many days from date listed to date the home is put under contract. Best wishes.
Hey QC, Happy Spring! Is realtor.com reliable as far as current market value goes? Also are there any sites that offer reliable info on price?
Happy Spring to you also I've sent you a DM with a website where you can get that info. (Realtor.com doesn't give recorded sale prices for the general public.) As you know, actual sale prices currently are "Above Average".
Both are not in high demand hub areas, therefore, priced accordingly. Completely different flavors too. btw Zillow is a nightmare for values, have a realtor who knows the market get "real" comps.
Zillows good for giving you an idea whats around for sale . Then find a area realtor .
Something to think about for lake Lure There dam on the lake is in need of major repairs and its not be a quick fix so lake water level draw down will hurt badly for a couple years . The area is also a touristy little area .
Burnsville - If you look to buy near the large valley that US-19 runs thru or lower hills surrounding valleys in yancey county away from the state line or black mountain range and rain and snow typically will be less than many of the surrounding areas . All we managed today on the west side of Burnsville was a nice light shower or a drizzle not the heavy rain and snow called for .
Lots of homes here for sale are vacation homes most times build for older folks and some are older family homes were children have moved on with there lives and become empty when family become to old to stay in them any longer ..
There's a lot of bargains today for those that take the time to look that were not here 20 years ago .
Although those places are both nice, they are far out with very limited necesities. Lake Lure and even Chimney Rock are a good place to vacation or get away. Burnsville is up and coming but very tiny at this time. It's a good 45 minutes northeast of Asheville. I'd check out Weaverville for that matter
We live 20 mins from Lake Lure it's not a bad area overall just like Asheville though the summers are pure hell all the tourist block and ride their brakes though the passes. Although there is less traffic out this way compared to Asheville overall. As a whole Western NC is one big tourist trap Burnsville is our far enough so they don't have that problem.
