Hello! I just received a speeding ticket for 74 in a 55mph area. I've looked into the consequences of 15&over in NC and I really cannot afford to lose my driver's license.

I was kind of wondering what my best options are. Would I be able to plea it down with a DA? Or should I hire a lawyer? Or would asking to use a PJC be most effective?

Thank you for your input!

Getting a lawyer is probably your best bet.

Absolutely hire an attorney. It won't even cost that much.

Meet the DA the morning of, sign your name, plea for judgement. Lawyer will do the same, unless you have a case and then get a lawyer. almost 20 miles over, not great. Good luck

I ended up doing this. After discussing with a lawyer, they said that the plea offered to me was about as best as they could do unless I got really lucky but with my record they didn't think so. So I went with a plea for a reduced charge and paid upfront.

Thank you everyone!

Did you have to pay the lawyer, too?
