Does anyone have any suggestions for a romantic new year's eve event in Asheville? Not coming up with much in my search. I'm thinking dinner, dancing, that sort of thing.
I'm not one for going to bars but we have a really great music venue here called the "Orange Peel". I bet they have some smokin' music planned for New Years
The Orange Peel Social Aid & Pleasure Club of Asheville, North Carolina was voted one of Rolling Stone magazine's Top 5 Rock Clubs in the country. Asheville's premier downtown live music club is a smoke free facility that features a state of the art sound and lighting system. Musical acts appearing on stage have included Bob Dylan, The Flaming Lips (http://www.flaminglips.com/main.php - broken link), Ben Harper, Blondie, Spoon, Sonic Youth, My Morning Jacket, Dinosaur Jr, Smashing Pumpkins, Arcade Fire and many more.
We've been to the'Peel a few times; very good venue with some outstanding performers, but I wouldn't categorize it as a "romantic new year's eve event", as the OP is seeking.

The more I think about your orig question, the more I am inclined to suggest that there are few or no venues that offer a 'romantic evening' for NY's Eve...at least none that I can think of in Asheville or western NC. And, I don't think I have ever had a "romantic evening', out, on NY's eve, as it it mostly about being with the one you love, in a group situ, as the bell drops and it is the new year.
If one wants a better situ, stay home, have a nice din, drinks, and snuggle when it hits midnight; but going 'out' for that kind of experience you are seeking, seems counter intuitive, imo.
