Hi, we are looking at houses in Mamaroneck (Larchmont and Mamaroneck), Rye, Rye Neck, and Blind Brook/Rye Brook school districts. I know some are bigger than others, is one district better than the other? Are there any districts you would avoid?

I understand that Mamaroneck and Rye schools are excellent. What about Rye Neck and Blind Brook?

You can't go wrong with any of those. It comes down more to size (they vary quite a bit) and what sort of sports facilities you want... Also diversity if its important - they vary quite a bit on that parameter. Rye Neck is excellent since you ask, but is a very small school, more like private school size. Some people prefer that, some people feel its too small.

Totally agree. Now that you've tackled the easy part ("Is it a great school?"), you have to tackle the hard part ("Is it a great school for my child?"). Size, diversity, sports, facilities, language offerings, arts focus, all vary. Go meet the principal and do a tour. Sometimes, parents feel what is best when meeting principals and teachers.

I agree that Blind Brook schools are excellent but would say Rye Neck schools are excellent as well. Not just good. They are both pretty small also. While Rye and Mamaroneck are bigger.

Blind Brook is by far the most homogeneous of these districts, which is why it's considered excellent compared to the rest. But they are all great, it just depends what you're looking for (smaller or larger district, some diversity or none).
