I guess it's possible for deer to get rabies, although I've never heard of one.
At Cooper's Rock SF a few weeks ago, we could track the progress of the raccoon family as they checked out all the trash cans in the campground... the BOOM-RATTLE-rattle would get louder as they got near, and softer as they went away.
It took 3 bungee cords, criss-crossed across the lid, to finally get something strong enough to keep them out of our can.
I appears it is only illegal to feed wild animals on STATE land. Although it's generally not a good idea, I don't think anyone was in grave danger feeding a deer. Now something that eats meat for sustinence, that's another matter...
Yeah, we stopped letting Tyler feed the mountain lions a while back... ha ha
Go back a couple of pages... it's about whether young-uns should be petting wild deer or not.
