I'd consider both of those areas fairly safe. As with anywhere, it's ultimately what part of town you live in. Williamson does have more of a drug problem.
Those two places are very different though. Williamson is extremely remote while Weston is right off of I-79. Depends what you're looking for. The "safety" of each place isn't significant enough where that would be my deciding point
Both are what I would consider safe communities although as 304 alluded, Williamson has more of a drug problem as do many places in the southern Coalfields.
Is there anything else you are looking for in a new home? Williamson is in the middle of nowhere. Weston is rural but at least within 30 minutes of shopping/ dining/ medical in Clarksburg and an hour away from WVU Healthcare and everything else that is in Morgantown.
Bluefield and neighboring Princeton are nice enough and offer much more than you can get in Williamson. They are also right off of I-79 and US 460 so easy access to the city of Beckley and a little under two hours to the much larger city (relatively speaking compared to Bluefield) of Roanoke, Virginia.
Weston would give you many more amenities than Williamson.
Princeton/Bluefield is a decent area and would be better than Williamson, in my opinion. I would still look toward Weston over Princeton/Bluefield.
