All parts of the state speak American English, but the southern areas are more prone to have the Southern Appalachian accent applied to it. The northern areas talk more like Pittsburghers, but seldom use the "yinz" form of you. There are distinct differences between the area of the state south of the town of Sutton, and the areas north of there. Every state has regional differences. Ours is no different in that regard.
