Aspen Dental and Quoba are now open on the property in between Texas Roadhouse. Penn Station is expected to open the 20th of this month and I was told today that a BBQ restaurant and a Jersey Mikes was going in soon in the two other building yet to be completed. The one building looks to have space for 5-7 businesses and probably finished by July or August.
Charles Pointe Crossing sees large earth moving equipment move in with 40 full time workers preparing the area for development. The development when finished will be over 110 acres with 650,000 square feet of shopping, restaurants and hospitality anchored by Menards. Site works is anticipated to be done in 2020 and Menards open sometime in 2021. Charles pointe is a 1700 acre planned development. Along with White Oaks starting phase three soon in their development the Bridgeport area is primed for growth. With the FBI complex and United Hospital both located at this development as well as thousands of other well paying jobs this will eventually be one of the larger retail and business areas in the state. There are already numerous hotels, restaurants and businesses located at the two exists for these two developments . Meadowbrook Mall is just one exit down the road.
The new Kroger in Eastpointe shopping center where Kmart used to be has all its walls up and is expected to be open any where from December to March 2021. The new Charles Pointe Crossing shopping center seems to be nearing the end to its work on the property and getting the entrance ready. Menards is the only announced tenant so far and I doubt they start building anything till next year. When complete it will be a 600,000 sq ft shopping center. I just hope they finally in the near future build new Krogers in Buckhannon and Elkins. Both look like they are straight out of the 60's and 70's.
The new 99,000 sq.ft. Krogers opens tomorrow as the largest Kroger in West Virginia. The old Kroger in the same east point shopping center will now be turned into a new hobby lobby. This is good news for the area establishing Clarksburg and Bridgeport as a regional shopping destination. Hopefully, Meadowbrook Mall can find an anchor for the empty Sears and Elder Beerman spaces but I haven't heard anything lately. With the new Charles Point Crossing shopping center starting sometime later this year one exit up anchored by Menards the mall will have a hard time attracting new tenants. At least Meadowbrook has Target, JcPenny's, and Marshalls still to keep the mall alive.
Michaels opens at Eastpointe shopping center in the old A.C. Moore spot. Along with the new Krogers open and the opening of Hobby Lobby in the old Kroger spot by early next year the shopping center will be full and continue to be a vibrant shopping center in north-central West Virginia. If they could fix the traffic problems at this center it would be a pleasant place to shop. The entrance and exit by Kroger is horrible and has been since the center opened and it's worse now with the busy Kroger on that end of the center.
Eastpointe shopping center in Bridgeport will be adding a Longhorn Steakhouse where Eat'N Park was located. They will also be getting the shopping center a Tokyo Sushi Hibachi and an Asian Royal Grocery Store. The new Olive Garden has started but the proposed Hobby Lobby in the old Krogers has yet to start. The new Krogers in the same shopping center is probably one of the nicest if not the nicest grocery stores in West Virgina. Charles Pointe Crossing has said the long-awaited Menards will start in spring. In Charles Pointe, there is a new clean juice and Integrative wellness center opening Wednesday. Stone Tower Brews and Shrimp and Snapp's has opened in the White Oaks Market Place by Patron's Mexican Restaurant. Another yet-to-be-named restaurant is under roof. Harmony assisted living center is also open in White Oaks and United Hospital Center is already looking at expanding and adding two more floors that will cost 80 million to build. This is good news for North Central West Virginia.
Xator corporation a national securities solutions company that does work globally in more than 120 countries is opening an office in Charles Poite employing 100.
